fitfad asked: I was just wondering whether there was anythig i can put on my hands while poledancing as my hands slip alot and its really frustrating especially when I'm trying to do inverts. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you in Advance x
Hi Ellie!
We highly recommend the Mueller Stickum Grip Powder (which you can find here: http://www.muellersportsmed.com/Grip_Enhancers.htm). What we do is we put the powder on our hands and then apply alcohol right after (this makes your hands stickier!).
If you are doing the really intense stuff, you can opt to use iTac2 Pole Dance Grip. iTac2 has different grip intensity levels. http://www.poledancegrip.com/
Try not to be too dependent on these gripping aids though. We have had students who can do certain tricks with gripping aids but once we tell them not to put any kind of aid, they can’t hold the trick for so long. Use the gripping aids when really necessary (like if your palms are naturally sweaty). You still want to strengthen your grip.
I hope we were able to help.
Good luck! :)
byebyestranger asked: This is awesome! I love poledance, but I'm still learning the basics (a). Have you got any tips on how to get a better grip, because I'm always gliding down and I don't know why?
Hi byebye stranger!
Aside from the usual pole dance grip aids (such as iTac2), we also try to do grip exercises. These exercises are very simple and you can even do them at home. All you need is a towel! Just roll the towel and grip the edges. Try to pull the towel apart, as if you’re trying to tear it. It may sound silly but it helps strengthen your grip. You can also use stress balls!
If your palms are naturally sweaty, you can use Mueller Stickum Grip Powder as well. http://www.muellersportsmed.com/Grip_Enhancers.htm
Good luck!
